Our Story

The story of Amber’s Antibodies starts with Amber Grider. She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in July 2004. After a successful battle against her own cancer, the fight to cure cancer began. We started fundraising as a simple Relay For Life team benefiting the American Cancer Society. We held our first dinner party in 2005 with 30 close friends and family, who helped us raise almost $5,000. In 2023, more than 250 people attended the event, raising more than $300,000.

A few years after our inaugural dinner party, we discussed doing more events and starting a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation. We spent the first year cultivating the vision of our charity and creating a game plan. In 2013, we formed a board of directors, which remains 100 percent volunteer-based. Our main fundraiser is now in the sixteenth year. The future of Amber’s Antibodies was bright as we readied ourselves to generate large donations.

But, in 2014, cancer struck again. A very close friend of most of our board members—a mother of two young kids—was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. In the depths of despair, opportunity grew. Amber’s Antibodies was in a position to directly help others battling cancer financially.

After we saw the difference we could make, we knew we wanted to do more.

Amber’s Antibodies officially launched its Grant Program in 2017, helping several local families ease the financial burden that cancer causes. Since inception, we have donated more than $1,000,000 to over 800 Southwest Florida families through our Grant Program. We have also donated more than $190,000 to various cancer research organizations.

Our goal with the Grant Program is to give families hope and support as they fight one of the toughest battles life can give, while providing donors with an opportunity to donate to a local charity helping those in their neighborhood.  With Amber’s Antibodies, we can come together to make a monumental difference in lives that need it most, while advancing the quest to cure cancer.

Mission: Improving the lives of SWFL families battling cancer by providing direct financial support, as well as making monthly contributions toward scientific research.

Vision: A community where cancer no longer impacts our families.
